New Third-Gen Kindle Fire Details Leaked

The next Kindle Fire HD models will offer high-end tablet specs, including a high-end Snapdragon 800 processor, according to a recent report. But, until now, we didn’t know what to expect from Amazon’s entry-level Kindle Fire tablet.

According to a new report published Friday, the next Kindle Fire will reportedly feature the same chipset that powers the current Kindle Fire HD lineup, a 1.5GHz dual-core Texas Instruments OMAP4 4470 processor with PowerVR SGX544 graphics. It will also feature a higher resolution screen, matching the current Fire HD at 1280 x 800, 1GB of RAM and Android 4.2.2 are also going to launch on the device, though Android will be coated with Amazon’s custom Kindle Fire interface – which itself may see some changes.

Pricing is said to be staying the same for the 8GB model, which will again be offered at $159 (about £102, AU$173), though there may also be 16GB and 32GB models at unknown price points.

Scientists have finely sliced a human brain into 7,400 wafer-thin sheets and then reconstructed it to create the world's most detailed map of the brain in three dimensions. Slicing a brain exposes only two dimensions, so it is often unclear where and how the cells within these folds are organised in three-dimensional space. The folds, creases and intricate internal structures that make up the human brain are being revealed in unprecedented detail. A new three-dimensional map called BigBrain is the most detailed ever constructed, and should lead to a more accurate picture of how the brain's different regions function and interact.
