Intex has announced the i-Buddy Connect II 3G tablet, which is a new variant of its i-Buddy Connect 3G tablet,which was unveiled earlier this year for close to Rs 10,000.

Specifications

Intex i-Buddy Connect II 3G comes with single-SIM which as the name suggests is 3G compatible. It has a 7-inch WVGA display with 800×480 pixels resolution. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich as seen on its previous variant and many of its competitors.

The hardware includes a 1GHz dual-core Cortex A5 processor with 512MB of RAM, while the older variant came with 1GB of RAM. Other features on the tablet include a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera, 4GB of internal storage, 32GB of external storage support on microSD card, voice calling support and a 3,000mAh battery which the company claims will offer up to 5 hours of talk time and up to 300 hours of standby time.

Like the previous version this tablet also comes with Educlass which is a smart school application with content from NCERT text books for class 1- 12 as well as other interactive educational content.

This tablet include Android Jelly Bean and is available for Rs 7000.

Sapphire Displays by Apple

The electronics giant is getting ready for massive production of sapphire displays.  Speculation has been running rampant about Apple's plans for mobile devices with a sapphire screen and it is finally appear to be firming up on Thursday. Apple uses sapphire for the ID fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S The iPhone maker recently placed a large order with GT Advanced Technologies for furnaces and chambers used in making sapphire displays. According to 9to5Mac, GT Advanced has already received 518 furnace and chamber systems, which would let it build 103 million to 116 million 5-inch displays per year. (Another 420 machines are still on order, which would nearly double that production output.) Moreover, GT Advanced also has ordered Intego Sirius Sapphire Display Inspection Tool components, which would work to make sure that the displays meet high-quality standards. As said by Cisco Systems Inc and Facebook Inc on Wednesday that they will work with big businesses such as hotels and retailers to provide free wireless Internet access to consumers who sign in using a Facebook log-in. Facebook Partners with Cisco to offer free Wi-Fi Internet at Hotels Cisco Chief Executive Officer John Chambers, in a speech at the Interop technology conference in New York, said the system would allow retailers to deliver tailored promotions or information to consumers who check in through Facebook when they arrive at a store. Rather than having to get the provider's Wi-Fi access code, a visitor to a coffee shop or a hotel, for example, could connect to the Wi-Fi system simply by logging onto Facebook and "checking in" to the business' Facebook page.
