AVA Velocity reveals new SWIFT 250 cafe racer

AVA Velocity has revealed the new 250 Swift motorcycle which designer Adrian Van Anz explains is inspired by the bikes of the 60s and 70s bad-boy romanticism, when tough guys wore leather jackets and smoked cigarettes as they rode.

Van Anz says the Swift is a hybrid: a small, lightweight motorcycle that performs like a bigger one—something that replicates the vintage look of older machines, but with the mechanical qualities of newer models. The bike boasts a OHC Single Cylinder 4 Stroke engine and has a fuel tank capacity of 2.43 gallons making it ideal for street riders. It’s a little sports racing bike that is street-legal,” he says. It will also weigh less than 200 pounds.

Although it will initially only be available in the US, motoring fans around the world will be no doubt be licking their lips at the prospect of this new bike.

Mr Van Anz emphasised the importance of the design which takes him back to a time when men wore leather jackets and smoked as the rode.

"I've always loved early 60s Grand Prix-style racing bikes. It was a wild period. I liked the aesthetic of the entire sport then," he added.

The 250 Swift is expected to retail at just under $4,000 (£2,550).
